How To Avoid Cakey Makeup
Putting on any type of makeup can be difficult, whether it's Mineral, mousse, or liquid! Many factors can affect how your makeup turns out, some of which we can't control. Your skin type plays a big role in how the formula will interact with your skin and the final result. It's disappointing to think your foundation looks flawless, only to realize in natural light that it doesn't! One common fear for those new to using mineral makeup is that their makeup will look cakey. In this blog, I will share my tips and tricks on avoiding cakey makeup – it's easier than you think!
To avoid cakey makeup, begin by properly prepping your skin. Those with dry skin are more prone to experiencing this issue. Even if you apply foundation flawlessly, lack of hydration can cause makeup to look cakey and flaky. Always moisturize before applying makeup to keep your skin hydrated and prevent a cakey appearance, especially after multiple layers of product.
Over-applying loose powder, particularly foundation, is a common mistake. Some may believe that doubling up on product is necessary to achieve full coverage, leading to cakey makeup. To avoid this, start with a small amount on a Kabuki brush and gradually build up layers until you reach your desired coverage. Applying a large amount of powder at once can dry out the skin and create a flakey, cakey appearance.
I hope these tips help you to avoid cakey makeup!
